Wow, for a while there it felt like we were doing nonstop, out-of-state gigs and the mileage on the old odometers certainly tell the tale! Traveling to all points north, south, west, and east (circuitously), we love being invited to familiar and unfamiliar alike out-of-town locales. It’s one of the great perks of being a high-level working special event band: we get to travel a lot!
But last night we had the honor and privilege of being invited to perform at a wedding right in the heart of downtown in our beloved hometown, Sweet Home Chicago (and yes, we did play that song). Located directly on the river and riverwalk and evidently recently voted best restaurant view in Chicago, the Chicago Cut Steakhouse was the hosting venue for a fabulous wedding.
We had a jazz trio set up outside on the patio for the first portion of the program. The weather cooperated beautifully and setting was truly unparalleled with views just beyond musicians of the river, the skyline, and historic bridges.
After that everyone moved indoors and the full eight member John Paris Band performed straight through until midnight. The dance floor was packed the whole night through as we kept the dancers grooving with a wide array of styles: top 40, jazz, disco, Latin, rock, and so on. This is a wonderful venue with a great stage and dance floor set up and, yes, the views, and it was really a very elegant event.
It was great to be back in Chicago last night and we were thrilled to do it in style! Don’t hesitate to write or give me a call – we would love to perform at your wedding or other special event as well!
